Year of Yamaha 15D

Same ol' question:

Anyone who knows the year this Yam was built?

Yamaha 15 D (15 hp)
Serial 684C S 040979


The Marineshopen.se list says that 684C equals 6E8 and that this model was built from 1981 on.

The Mariner-equivalent says serial# 040979 would be 1985.

Anyway, it is a Yamaha, not a Mariner. It was purchased in Europe, and therefore it may be pre-1984.
