I'm hoping that someone here may be able to vouch for one of the boat dealers/mechanics in the area. I live in the Memphis Metro Area and this past weekend while running my motor on the muffs I noticed some milky oil building up on the prop between the prop and the lower unit.
It smelled like exhaust and was kind of thick, not like lower unit oil or oil from the motor either. I know that a leaky prop shaft seal will usually leak from the center of the prop (It doesnt look like a prop shaft seal leak) and I just had both of those replaced a few months ago. I also hadnt engadged the drive so it shouldn't have been mixed that well with water if it was coming from the lower unit. There was also quite a bit of oil on the ground that the prop had blown out with the exhaust. A noticeable amount. It looked burned though.
The engine also didnt quite idle as well as it used to even though our temps were normal 70's.
Does anyone have any idea what this might be? If not do any of you know any reputable dealers/mechanics that work in this area that I could take it to? I've dealt with some hack boat mechanics before and I would rather pay a good price for good work than pay some hack to give me more problems.
Thanks Guys in advance.
