thinking about puting me some ujoints together here soon and got a question.
got me some new quiksilver ujoints. question is to me. should i grease them. looks like there's grease in em now. but which kind? can i assume quicksilver ujoints use merc ujoint and gimble brgs grease? i see that service manual #4 & 6 both say to use 2-4-c? my #2 manual calls for something else even yet....some merc part number.....so which way to go?

Re: u-joint grease

Manuals 4 and 6 are old manuals. Before 2-4-C had teflon put in it.
I use the ujoint and gimbal bearing grease on customers boats.
They bring their boats to a Merc dealer and don't expect a lot of second guessing and cheaper aftermarket parts and lubes.
That is also why my truck goes to the dealer for service and repair.

thanks dons, i love them serivece bullitins ya have. thankyou, thankyou....

ujoint & gimble brg grease it is.

to answer my own question. reading the package the ujoint comes in.....caution: this ujoint must be lubricated when assembled. it has a note too that a retaining grease was used to hold the bearings for assembly and that this grease must be purged from the brg.........
