I have the motor out of my 87 Sea Ray Seville 19' CC. It is a 4.3 merc. When I removed the motor the leg bolts holding the motor mount down weren't holding well. I am guessing that whatever is inside the mounts that are fiberglass on the outside is rotten. Is there anything I can fill the mounts with so the leg bolts will hold when I reinstal the motor? Or do I have to cut them out and do it from inside of them then glass them back in to place?

I don t think you can, maybe if you mixed up some cabosil (resin and ground up glass mixed to a putty) and packed it in real good but I dont know if that would hold, otherwise it would be best to go ahead and mold new ones in.

Ayuh,.......

The 1st thing to do is,....Dig it out,+ see just How Bad it is.........

If it's only a couple of sq. inches,....
The repair will be different than if it's a couple of sq. feet.......

Re: 87 Sea Ray

yup, bondo-s right

i just pulled my 4.3 outta my beast, a 68 searay.
the lag bolts were rusted, started digging, had to do the rest any how.
the 4- 3/4 inch boards the lag bolts were thru were so wet i squeezed the water out by hand.
if yours are wet, i wonder what else is too.
no time like the present. do it all. do it right the first time, or youll be reading don s 's signature kickin yourself.:D
dont let it scare you.
whats a few days comin home stiff and sore anyhow?

cheers

Thanks a lot! I have done extensive baot repair in the past so this lil project is no big deal. The rest of the floor is in great shape. The motor mounts don't connect to any part of the foor.

Hopefully your stringers and transom are OK, you should check those while you are at it.

Have a great day,

Rob.
