2002 Johnson 90hp Fuel Leak

I think I have the lower unit straightened out. For anyone who might read this the manual on the Johnson says the oil will look opaque if you drain it after you recently ran it. Within a few hours. This is caused by aeration.

Now my problem is I have a weird fuel leak and I need someone's help with a solution. You can see where the leak is coming from in the attatched picture. The motor doesn't leak any fuel until I pump the bulb to prime the motor. Even then I can give it four or five good squeezes before it gets firm (not tight like it is supposed to). After about the fifth squeeze I get fuel leaking out of the hole pictured. The motor runs fine, Idles good, no other issues other than this fuel appearing after squeezing the bulb six or seven times. I asked the local shop what they charge for a rebuild on these carbs and the $580.00 price was a little steep for me. I won't be going that route. Does anyone know what this hole is and why it would have fuel coming out of it?

I agree, could you back the camera up a bit?? Either way, if you have the manual, you should be able to handle the carb rebuild with little effort, along with the guidance of this forum. That is what is needed.

Try These. Sorry about that. In the first post I had removed the bracket. These are of the bracket moved back in place and screwed in.

Looks like the bowl vent. Fuel comes out the vent if the float level is set too high, the float has sunk, or the fuel inlet needle and seat are not closing off the fuel when the bowl is full. That's also why the primer bulb won't firm up. It can't firm up unless the fuel to all carbs is turned off as the bowls become full. You need some carb work.

A complete rebuild?

I am going to guess it is not ok to run the motor like this and that this problme will not correct itself.

there is no point of taking a carb off with out rebuilding it. you need the gasket after you take the bowl off. and gasket to remount it. so you may as well do it right.
