Well it's finally finished, thanks for the photo's 45auto they gave me the inspiration I needed. The one picture of my anchor of choice it's a 40yr. old anchor been with me through 3 different boats, there is 150' of rope attached and it all fits nicely with room to spare. The relocation of cleats required 2 aluminum plates 1/4" thick about 2"x6" bent in the form of the radius of the gunwhale and glassed in underneath, I think I could probably pull a skier with one of them. Overall I couldn't be happier, still contemplating a drainage system being it is all 100% sealed but at this point I feel I don't need it, we'll see what happens when iy gets put to the test in the spring. Happy holidays to ya.
Eddie

Re: Completed anchor locker project (pics)

It really was nerve racking at times cutting holes in my boat but all turned out well.
Maybe my photos will give someone else the inspiration to build one.
Now I just have to think up something else to start on, it's going to be a long winter.

Looks good. You might want to restrain that anchor in there some way to keep it from bouncing around if you catch some waves or a wake.

i've been thinking about a way to secure it to the eye ring that I've attached, unlike your's that's made to hang a danforth, I like my navy style with it smooth and rounded edges, I'll definately have to come up with something to keep it from flopping around, like you say one day it could just bust up through that door or even worse.

Looks Great! How about using those velcro (or rubber) deck mount rod holders that are used on the deck of a bass rig to hold the rope and anchor in place in there?

I'll just bungee strap it to the deck. Thanks for the ideas though. I have other plans for rod holders.

Now that I would be interested in seeing, tell me more like does it drain to the bilge or even have a drain? How is the anchor secured in there, it would be neat if you could post a photo of it for me. Hech I'd like to see the whole boat.

No problem, It's raining today, but when it stops, I'll pull the cover and snap a few pics and get some measurements for ya. From what I remember, it drains into the hull, but not 100% sure. I just picked this boat up a month ago as project, so I'm still not 100% sure of it's details.
I noticed your's is a CHAP too, what year and model is it?

It's a 1990 2000SL has a 5.8 liter Ford 351W the only thing trick is it has a built in cooler beneath the rear port seat, it has a pretty cool swim platform other than that it's just your typical bow rider boat, I got it late last season and only had a chance to get the bugs worked out, inluding a tuneup repalced the shift cable and a replaced a section of the deck because it had a little rot around the fuel tank access (edges weren't sealed) Now it's all downhill and just playing around with it, I would really like to have something along the inside gunwhales to attach my oars to but theres just nothing there to attach to.

well, lets see if I can figure out loading these pics LOL......

Please pay no attention to the trailer it's on, I have a 2 axle trailer for it that is getting ready to get sanded and painted so I had to put the boat on something to keep it mobile.

Hey a70,
I just noticed these pics are kinda small for details.
PM me your e-mail address and I'll send you much bigger pics that have alot more detail in them, if you wish.
