Looking for some suggestions on a new or gently used boat. This will be my 2nd boat - the first a Tahoe Q4SF. We will have anywhere from just myself - to 7 or 8 people on board. The boat will see at least 50% fishing - with about four on-board.

-Roughly 21' - fiberglass or aluminum deckboat.
-Outboard - either Honda or Yamaha
-Either center console or dual console
-Separate storage for fishing rods and skis. I want to be able to fish and ski in the same day.
-Storage for cooler - that is out of the way.
-Rod Holders for trolling...
-Anchor Storage

I have looked at the Hurricane 217OB & 211GS and the Tahoe 215CC. I really don't want another Tahoe, plus they don't come with either the Honda or Yamaha engines.

I live in North Central Texas and will be boating on Ray Roberts, Lewisville, Possum Kingdom, etc. I am very concerned with rough water performance - I want to be able to run across afternoon chop at planing speeds with out getting the snot beat out of me...

I will be saving and paying cash for this, so it is probably 6 - 9 months away. I am in no hurry, and want to find the perfect boat.

Thanks in advance!

Take a look at the 2250 from Ranger. Just introduced this year. May be a little larger than you want, but probably has more fishing features than most other deck type boats and seems to meet the rest of your criteria. I doubt you'll find any dealers that rig with Honda, but about half of Ranger dealers will rig with Yamaha.

If you want have "7 or 8" peoples on board you need to look at something bigger than a 21 footer. IMO.

Kids require a bit more space than adults also (cause you know they ain't gonna sit still for very long).:)

Re: New Boat Suggestions

Thanks for the input. I am very much interested in finding a good used boat and saving some money. I like the layout of the Tahoe very much, but I don't think I'll purchase another boat from them...

I have space limitations at home - so I can't store anything bigger than the 21' model. We had 7 out multiple times on the Q4SF, which was a 19.5' boat. That was too many for fishing, but not too bad for 1/2 day at the lake skiing and tubing.

I will be at the boat show in Dallas... I also went last year, but there were not any of the Hurricane model I was interested in and I didn't really see anything else exciting.
