Earlier advice on this forum was very helpful to first boat search. Narrowing choices to a slightly used 2007 225 Tournament Grady White with F250(28hrs)--traded for larger boat-- vs. a new R227 Robalo with same engine. Warranties would be longer on Robalo hull plus engine, otherwise similarly equipped and price about the same. All thoughts welcomed.

do you have any idea what the GW sold for New, the first buyer takes the used boat depreciation hit. whether it is one hour of 200 hours.

both great boats. i believe the grady will have a better resale, but only slightly. sounds like it will really come down to the specific layout and which boat feels better to you. wouldn't hesitate on buying either.

I understand the list on the Grady White was close to $85,000 with the trailer, but I do not know what the orginal owner paid since the dealer took the boat on trade for a larger boat.

take the list price of the GW, subtract the used boat depreciation, if sales price is in that range, good. remember you are going to take the used boat depreciation of the new Rabalo.

I was wrong on the price of a new Grady White--now asking $69,900 completely equipped but without a trailer. Used 225 ask is $59,900. So that would suggest first year depreciation of 15%. Is that in the range of the "used boat depreciation" you mentioned?

Both good boats.

If your priority is quality of build and details I think the GW is a slightly better boat.

If your priority is best price vs. product the Robalo charges you less for the reputation.

Re: Grady White vs. Robalo

I'm on my 3rd Grady so I'm a bit biased but here are a couple of thiongs to consider:

Grady customer service is second to now in the industry. All their schematics and manuals are on their website for down load free of charge. Should you need replacements parts they will go as far as to give you the OEM part numbers so you can purchase direct.

Don?t know long your planning to keep the boat but resale on the Grady is excellent. Both of my previous boats where bought by the first person to come out and I got asking price on both.
