i need to know what year of mercury 150 i have all i have is this serial number O8129695 or it may be 08129695 sorry new to this boat stuff but i need to find out the year i need to fix the water pump and power tilt and trim motor i test the tilt and trim motor i got power from the cylonlids to the motor but it does not move bad motor? or am i missing something

Hi,

Welcome to iBoats the serial number you have posted is not right the second character you have as 8, should be a letter either A B C D or G with Mercs you don't need the year just the serial number having trouble reading your post any chance of adding a full stop or two to the ends of the sentences? i think you're saying that the trim and tilt motor isn't working when you press the up or down button, can you hear anything a click or a whirring?

If you have power to the motor and it doen't work then yes, I would suspect the motor.

it might be a B but the left side of the letter/number looks rounded so either a B or a 8 . does anyone know how to remove the power tilt and trim motor ? or is it best to let a pro do it? i work on cars for a living but the merc 150 looks intimadating for some reason

While you may have power from the solenoides, do you have a good ground from the pump motor?
It may be easiest to disconnect the wires for the pump and test them directly to a battery. Black on Ground, Blue or Green on Positive. If it doesn't run when wired direct, the motor is bad, or the pump is locked up.
