2002 Merc 75 2stroke...warning horn question...again..

Ok.. I checked my warning horn and all works fine. EXCEPT it does not beep when I first turn on the key. It also does not beep when the starting battery is disconnected and reconnected. I have a tan wire under the console that is taped of and disconnected from the ignition switch...and one under the cowl of the engine that is not connected. I see no where to connect it. I assume this is for power to the warning module? The horn will sound when I ground the wire from the temp sender, I also know the horn will sound when running and my oil tank gets low on the engine. I ran it low on purpose to change to synthetic oil ( I know, wasnt necesary to run low, Personal preferance).

Any thoughts?

Most likely cause is a defective alarm module. Since it works with grounding the temp sensor wire, and low oil, you know the wiring is ok.

ummm. I may not HAVE a warning module.. looking at the diagram in the manual I have for USA-S/N-0G438000/BEL-9937000 & UP, it shows nothing about a warning module...if so I feel like an idiot!

Nope, your engine doesn't have a warning module, therefore, there is nothing in the system, that I can see, to make the horn come on for a quick beep when power is turned on. That single beep is also not mentioned in the owners manual either. Those with the module the beep is described in the Owners manual.

i emailed mercury with that same question i have 2002 90 hp they told me it does not have a warning horn on start up.
