Howdy from a newbie from Texas.
I just bought a 92 186 captiva and plan on doing all the maintaince issues before I put it in the water so I plan on doing a lot of research and I hope y`all can point me in the right direction. I am a hotrodder from way back so I`m not worried about digging into the internals.

I think I got a good boat it has hardly been used and is garage kept other than a couple of nicks here and there it looks brand new. So any help will be greatly appriciated and if I can help anyone I will try to the best of my ability.

Welcome to iboats!
First thing you need to do is get a service manual and get familiar with marine engines and drives. With your experience and a few specialized tools you should be A-OK.
Good luck.

Re: Hi everybody!

Can't tell you about the plugs because we don't know what engine you have.

Yes, I use a suction pump to do oil changes. Works much better of the oil is warmed. It's a pretty clean job from my experience. Changing the oil filter is way messier. I try to drop the filter into a plastic bin but usually miss.
