Lounge seats for the Capri? Options??

My 87 capri has the bad seats going on, there torn-up and the hinges are broken. What are my options in lounge seating? Can the cheap lounge seats be installed, or are the $300 each bayliner wise seats the only way to go? Any people with pics of pedestal seats installed?

You could try posting in boat restoration. An auto upholstrey shop might be able to give you some estimates on redoing your seats. If you can remove the cushions even a furniture place can do it. They sell the marine grade vinyl on line and you can get great close out deals at times. Ask if you can provide the material at your local shops. Pedestal seats work so long as your deck is rock solid and strong. Redesigning your seating is also possible with many software programs that can help. Again it would take imagination. do a search on these topics.

I already covered them once, and the hinges are all busted as well. I have had the same problems with 2 other bayliners, 1980's boats. I need a new seat over all, new design. I thought somebody out there would know about the seat fit ment.

I was also thinking on bolting and reinforcing a pedestal bass style seat to the existing seat bases, can it be done?

...what type of hinges? piano style hinges on back to back seating? those can be replaced. here is a thread to give you some ideas on changing up your seating.

Yea... But how much $30 a hinge? I fish with the boat mostly so bass style might be the way to go. I need to know if the cheapo lounge seat will work without the base, just swap the metal posts that are on the BL seats to the new lounge seats? The BL Wise seats are nice, but not in solid colors and $300 each.

you have many options, you first have to decide what you want to do. if back to back lounge, go with the compostite bases.

I am leaning towards the back-to-back lounge style, but don't know what will fit other then the $300 each BL wise seats. Want to spend half that, Like $300 for the pair. So can the cheap Lounge BTB seats fit on the Bayliners built in base?
