This is my favorite boating forum. I've been to several others but they don't have much activity and therefore aren't nearly as informative. What are the other boating forums that you find worthwhile?

Re: Popular boating forums

The "Hull Truth" is a good forum that I peruse. But it leans towards salt water users. But there is a lot of good info there like on electronics etc.

The only problem it's not a very gentlemanly forum like this one is. Be prepared for cat and dog like fights and bashing/flaming at times.

Poor moderation in my opinion, over there.

Boat U.S. is another good one. I use both that one and this one. Both are very popular, have a lot of activity and cover a wide range of subjects and topics.

Re: Popular boating forums

This one is the best I've found. :):):)

Although I do worry that since there are a number of rules here that are rigidly enforced and also that no discussion of same is permitted, that it may one day lose its following or become so restricted that the community is destroyed accidentally. I've seen that happen to internet forums before.

The other forum I go to sometimes is at boatdesign.net... the guys that run that company are great, and even offer free advice on things like layups for boat repair (what layers of what fabric to use, etc) plus good advice and tutorials on repair techniques. They have some good designs for boats too if you want to scratch build.

Re: Popular boating forums

Yea there are other boating forums out there.
And there are places where you can argue and fight with each other.
They are not the family friendly site like we are and it will stay that way.
iboats, the only boating forum on the www.

Variety is the spice of life. Though Aiboats is the best. There are a few other good ones out there and none to my knowledge permit fighting nor slandering.
Each is monitored.
Each forum serves it's own purpose and it's own members needs. That is why there are more than one. Small boats is what I was looking for when I found Aiboats. And although I've heard complaints about this site. I say what a GREAT Site and keep up the good work Aiboats.

This by far the best website if you need information concerning boats and repairs. I do buzz over to speed wake where they are deep hardcore performance only peeps.

Re: Popular boating forums

Like others have mentioned, this is the best forum I have found on the web. There are other specialty forums that can be useful. For example, I own a Glastron, so I also frequent the "classicglastron" website and forum. Usually the knowledge base on iBoats is just as good as any specialty forum, but I do think it is good to have an awareness of any online community that specializes in the brand of boat you own.

Re: Popular boating forums

I like iboats, very good forum, lots of information, boat specific threads, I also like my brand specific forum, clubsearay, it is also very informative, lots of SeaRay information, tht is good, trailer boats not a lot of traffic but still good, boat us, and a couple others. iboats, clubsearay and trailerboats are all, shall we say, family friendly. There is one other that is mostly fishing that is very family oriented, coastaloutdoors, they invite the ladies and the children, they will call you down in a heartbeat if you get out of line, that board has been around for a long time and I don't see it going away anytime soon.

Re: Popular boating forums

look for one specific to your boat. For example, I also go to the stingray forum. Its also moderated by employees on the Stingray payroll.

I get more Stingray specific info there -- but the winters are quit over there.

For general boating and more specifics on my power plant, I only come here. Also, there is action year round. The moderation suits me fine. The info is great. I like that there are people from other countries. It's all good.

I have also found pretty much anything I am into now has a forum. I get a lot of good info on my Honda Odyssey (my tow vehicle) on odyclub. I occasion toyotanation for info on my Avalon. For general BS I go to a place called destinysrejects
