Hello to everyone,
I am still trying to determine what tires to get for my 1999 Chevrolet K1500Silverado 4X4 Extended Cab short-bed pick-up truck. Today I called the base service station at Scott AFB and they have a sale going on with the Firestone Destination A/T tires that ends March 31, 2008. I got a quote for $588.00 that includes balancing, mounting, tire disposal fee, everything I need to get these tires on my truck. These tires are a load rating "C". I own a 2004 Terry Quantum 32 Footer tarvel trailer with a unloaded vehicle weight of approxiametly 7,500 lbs. I pull this trailer every once in a while when me and my family decide to go camping and want to make sure this is a good tire. I know that Firestone had issues in the early 2000's but I haven't heard anything since. I just want your guys honest opinion on the Firestone Destination A/T tires and if I decide to get these they will be a size LT265 75 16 with Laod rating "C". Take care Bob currently at Osan AFB Korea(Have 43 days left til I get back to Mascoutah, Illinois, Scott AFB)

I would take a look at the Michelin LTX M/S. I had these on my 2500 Dodge ram and hauled many heavy loads. I put that truck through the ringer and never had a tire problem. They wear like iron, provide a good smooth ride, and offer excellent traction. I liked them so much I now have them on my 2005 Tacoma. I wont put anything else on my trucks.

Hey welcome back. Hope those 45 days pass fast for you.

I have these same brand of tires on my 2002 Chevy Trailblazer and have been very happy with them. I have not had any issues with them what so ever. They have been on for over 20,000 miles and no complaints yet. They are very good with road noise and traction.

Ditto on the vote for Michelin LTX. Its all i run on my vehicles and its nothing to get 60.000 to 70.000 miles out of them.Best riding tires i have ever used.I tow the boat and travel trailer.I also have them on my work truck that tows 12,000 pounds or more. They are expensive tires but well worth it in the long run.
The last set i bought for my Tahoe was the 265-70-16 and i gave about 700 bucks for them.

Hello to you,

I just wanted to tale you guys that I am bidding on 4 BFGoodrich load range "D" size LT265 75 16 longtrail T/A tires becuase I don't feel comfortable running the Firestones with what happened with them about 4 years ago. How do you guys feel about BFGoodrich tires I just described and will they be good pulling my 32 foot travel trailer/camper? Take care, Bob

I am not a big BFGoodrich fan---personally I would stick with the Firestones--I had a set on my 2001 Suburban 2500 and tow a 28' Wellcraft Nova (8000 lbs +) over 5000 miles a year and have been very happy with them. They lasted a long time and handled very well. All the BFG's I have owned had poor wet traction. The Michelins are VERY good as well--but expensive--too much for my pocket.

Hello to all of you,
Well I went ahead and won the brand new never before mount BFGoodrich LongTrail T/A LT 265 75 16 Load range "D" tires off of Ebay and paid for them. They should be there by the time I get back from Korea in March. They better be there or I am going to be pretty upset. They should be there by end of next week. Anyway, I think they will be all right and do the job for me, maybe not as good as the Michelins that I have on it now but they should be o.k. My dad ran BFGoodrich on all of his trucks and vans he had and didn't complain about them and they actaully looked nice on the vehicles. So that is why I am buying BFGoodrich becuase he had them when I was living at home. Thanks again, Bob
