Faster Prop Johnson 15

Hi,

I am running a Johnson 15 (1978) on a tiny 8ft Hydroplane (Minimost). The boat is way overpowered. This boat could easily do 40 MPH but I have the regular prop 9.5 x 10. I would need a prop with a least 15 pitch. I can't find anything that would fit this motor. There are 10 x 15 props for OMC and Merc 25 HP avalable but they don't fit the 13 tooth spline on my motor. Can the hub be changed on most props ? Or is there any other options I haven't considered ?

OEM prop # 175323 was 12.5 pitch if you can find one. ADVANTAGE PROPELLER DISCOUNT CENTER still lists them. 1-888-757-7767. I don't see why their prop shop could not turn the blades to take it up to 15 pitch.

If you can find the 12.5" prop, you may be able to have it pitched up to 13.5" - 14"

Go over to hydroracer.net and join. go to the general hydroplane forum. Those guys should be able to set you up with anything you want---including very expensive custom props.
