Well.......This is what i've been staring at for a few day's now....Having problems pulling the trigger(on the drill anyway)......

Don't have a lot of room on my 13 Foot Whaler to install these tabs.....I need to make sure my transducer and livewell pump still work....

Put a lot of work on this hull (its a 1977) re gelcoating her and don't want to have to rename my boat "Swiss Cheese"......
Tabs2.JPG

If I can't figure this out soon there going on ebay....I think i got the wrong set, these have the 40lb Shock absorbers #ST980-40 and from what i've read online this is going to be too much for a 13 Foot boat with a 40 H.P Outboard.....Thanks in advance for any suggestions......Warren

Re: Another Smart Tab Install Question

Warren,

The way you've got your livewell pump and transducer laid out, it doesn't look like you'll have room for the tabs, from the picture anyway. I don't think they should go outboard of those items and there isn't enough room on the inboard side. 40# actuators sounds right though. Take a look at the Nauticus website and it'll tell you what size you need for a 40hp motor.

edit-- Well, looking at the pic again, you might have enough room on the outside. Have you held them up there just to see if they'll fit?

I think your tabs could go on something like in the attached sketch. You may just have to move the other stuff around a bit to make room.

From the Nauticus application chart, your actuators may be a bit too big. Check with John DeAgro and see what he says, or set them at the lowest setting and see how it goes.

HaHa.....You guy's are good with the computer thing....I tried to find some bright colored tape in the garage to do the same thing.....All I had was a red sharpie and passed on it....

That area was where I was hoping it would work......I don't want to patch and drill 12 holes to move my transducer and pump over....

Its hard for me to believe that the tabs aren't going to interfere with my ducer and pump with them at the recommended 25 degree angle, with them there the bracket will almost be touching........

Someone please tell me its going to work so I can start drilling when i get home.....

Also......From what I understand the shocks are the same size so I don't have to worry about downsizing if I have to buy a lighter weight shock....How much are these if I want to have them both before taking it out??.....I'll just try and sell the ones I don't use after I pick a set.....If there not too expensive i'll give it a try, It costs me $70 to go out Hoopnetting for lobster and I don't want to ruine a trip.....

I think they will just fit on the outside of the strakes on the hull.If the 40 pound actuators are too much just call John at Nauticus he will swap them out,No problem..;)

Gary.....Thanks for the reply....

Well....I measured it last night and I have 9-10 inches from the outside of the pump/transducer to work with......Its going to be a tight fit....Will this effect my bottom reading/water pickup?......

Actually I installed it about a 1/8 inch too low and it picks up too much water...I had to put a ball valve on it because it pumps water big time at full throttle....

I emailed Nauticus with a link to this thread...Hopefully they'll be able to help me out......Warren

Re: Another Smart Tab Install Question

Whats the purpose of that pump being there anyhow? I thought it was just hanging there. The way i thought it worked is it pumped the water out of the boat not Into the boat!! What is the purpose of that? Does it feed a livewell or something or do you fill the boat up with water or something to make a big wake? If that thing works like a livewell i bet you can install a livewell that has a drain on the top and it will be able to cycle water into the bottom of the livewell and then out the top hole on the livewell and out a thru-hull above the waterline. Thats pretty neat if thats how you got it set up. I would mount a livewell kinda high on the boat and like i said put a thru-hull fitting on the side of the hull somewhere above the waterline and the pump can run all day ane the water would just run out the thru-hull on the side of the boat that is above the water line!

Im just curious but do you have any pics of the livewell set up? Im curious as to how you got it set up. Now im thinking about installing one like that with the excess water running out the side like i was describing!

I mounted mine outside of the transducer and speedo. this pic doesn't have them on it yet but they are right next to it. transducer works fine in this position.

Drewmitch......The reason I need water circulating in my livewell is to keep bass alive for tournaments, bait alive and a place to put my lobster when I go Lobster fishing......
