My 1991 350 cu.in. Mercruiser is due for new exhaust elbows. Would it be wise to purchase original Mercruiser parts or aftermarket exhaust elbows. I plan on keeping the boat (1991 Doral 255) for a long time.

Your thoughts are appreciated..........

Re: Exhaust Elbow Replacement

The Merc ones last longer, but not twice as long at twice the cost.....;)
If you do get after maket ones make sure the gasket surface is true, there have been instances where they were not & had to be machined....
Check them before installation....:)

Thanks for the advise.......I guess I'll check prices and move forward. Do you recommend Sierra?

You better check Mercs prices also, they are NOT double.
Personally, I wouldn't recommend Sierra for anything.

Have you looked into SSteel Aftermarket risers,..??....

They're alittle Pricy if you buy brand New,.... But Freshwater Used is a pretty good Bet......

What is the space limit on the surfaces anyways? If I put a straight edge across the surface is it ok if a piece of paper can slide under the straight edge in spots?

Well, it would be good enough, but ideally, no you would not want that.....;)
