I just recently was given an older mercury outboard, but recieved no info with it. Was told it is 20hp but it has stickers on it that say 110 which is a 9.9hp. I did some research and believe it may be a merc200 from 1974. Hoping someone can take Serial#3760930 and confirm year and model. Need to order carb kit and can not figure out which to order. If it helps it has a merc carb #1364-4929. Appreciate the help motor is very clean and runs rough, hate like heck to not use it!

Re: Year and Model?

The first 4 digits tell me it's from a 7.5 or 9.8HP the last 4, I can't cross to a year, the serial is for a 73 9.8 or 7.5 the 20HP carbs start with a differance first four digits

Re: Year and Model?

Look on the starboard side of the engine block if it had Comet cast into it, it will be a 7.5HP, Rocket it would be a 9.8HP and Super Hurricane it will be a 20HP they all three will fall into that serial number group so the serial can not tell anyone the model only the year.

Re: Year and Model?

Couldn't wait! Found a spot light and went out and looked, says it is a super hurricane, which makes a 20 like I thought it was. Not sure why that carb# doesn't seem to match!? Do you still think its a 73 ( I had done some research before this and had thought it was a 74)? Thanks for your help! Can you reccomend anywhere to by parts for this engine?
