Re: Plane Speed

Tiger, I think you are asking about minimum planing speed. If so, that is determined by the hull style, weight distribution and power to weight. Most boats will plane at 2800-3000RPM which is usually in the range of 22-30 MPH.
if you are asking about max speed, most boats with factory power will have a max speed of 40-45MPH. Custom packages may go faster.

Re: Plane Speed

Planing speed is determined by the design and length of the hull. Power (prop) or weight does not change this speed. You will need more power to plane though, with more weight. May I suggest you use a web search engine to look at web sites that will explain these principles to you.

Yeah we need to know what you are really asking: Minimum planing speed? Probably around 18 MPH without trim tabs, 13 - 15 MPH with trim tabs. Efficient planing speed? Probably around 25 MPH. Top speed? My guess is around 38 MPH for that load and set up. All SWAGs . . .

I Mean what is a minimum speed i need to go to stay on plane ,and what is a good overall cruising speed with family etc onboard dont want to push engine to the max but yet still stay on plane. boat lenght 25 feet.

Re: Plane Speed

What is the max rpm with 7 + aboard? Minimum planing speed may or may not be the most efficient speed. It could be as much as 1000 to 1500 rpm higher.
