Sorry if this question has been asked a million times...

I have a 44lb thrust minn kota motor for my small fishing boat and I'm wondering if it's worth the time and money to put a mount on my 22' 3500 pound day cruiser.

I'm sure once it's on I'd find uses for it if it actually moved the boat. I'm thinking it may not move the boat much, if at all though??? Anyone try something similar?

I wouldn't even bother with anything less than 100lbs of thrust on that boat....I doubt your 44lb model even has a shaft long enough to reach past the transom anyway and be steerable.....

Get yourself a small outboard kicker on a bracket and you will have something to keep you off the rocks if the wind kicks up and you lose your main power and a great gas saver if you want to troll all day.........

As IC stated, "Don't bother".

On my 21ft, 3,500 lbs. boat I mounted a 75 lbs. troll motor with a 60" shaft. Moves the boat pretty good.

It will move it, just not fast. It all depends on what you are trying to do with it. My 44 pound trolling motor moves my boat just fine albeit it weighs about 2800# loaded.
