I got one of them last week.....
Some of my cards were with other banks that got bought up by B of A a few years ago......
After being a Bank of America customer for 15 years, I am closing all accounts with them.....
Which includes my personal checking account as well as my business account.....
First, hey pander to illegal immigrants & now this......
Now they will lose all of my business.....
As far as I am concerned, they can stick it where the sun don't shine.....​

Just waiting for CD to mature next month and I'm out.
They added a $2 to all ATM transactions on top of what the machine charges recently as well.
Going to find me an institution that appreciates a long, loyal relationship.
B of A is a cold, faceless machine in my opinion

I started wondering several years ago when I used a BOA on the other side of town and discovered that of about 30 people in the bank only about 5 spoke english as their native language. Not to mention their changing the guidelines for credit card approval for folks that also didnt speak english as their native language.

I dropped them a few years ago when they started charging me for services I explicitly told them I did not want when I opened an account with them.I told the rep on the phone that she worked for a company that is not trustworthy and a self respecting person should look for another job...
Besides,I only pay 6.88% on my current credit cards and no, I am not about to change banks.

My BofA credit card is paid off every month. Otherwise I wouldn't use it.

They all do the same stuff, just at different times.

I'll have to agree with JB on this one. I looked at my account with them, and in February my rate actually dropped a point! I also pay in full a week before it's due and have always done so and my FICO score is in the high 800's. I think it's entirely dependent on what kind of customer you are and how the bank profiles its customers, and yes, they all do it...

Bank of America blows.

I had my credit card with them for years. I finally paid off my ENTIRE balance in August of last year -- I called them for an ACTUAL payoff for that date, and gave them my check card number, and paid it off. Felt AWESOME.

Then, 2 months later, I got a bill from them for $60 or $70. It said something on it about a past due balance..... called them up (boy, is that fun. sit on hold for forever, get someone that doesn't speak english very well, and I have a hard time hearing anyway.) No problem, we'll take care of it.

Next month, a bill again, for $100. Called again -- same response.

Same frickin thing the next month. This time, they called me wondering why I hadn't sent in my payment. I unleashed the monster. They apologized, and even sent me a letter saying that I wasn't at fault, and they'd take care of it.

Last month, I finally paid the &$(# bill for $264.00 (interest, and late fees), because I was so sick and tired of the situation. Now, they've got a dinger on my credit file, that I'm gonna have to work at to have taken off. I'm thankful for the letter that I have in my possession, but I tell everyone I know of my dealings with Bank of America.

It warms my innerds to know they're having some financial difficulty.

I got burned with fake charges years ago, and that was the topper.
All my $ in my credit union now.

I like BB&T. I'm not sure how widespread they are, but they have done some cool things, like refusing to lend to any persons or developers that have engaged in the use of eminent domain to procure land.

I haven't ever had any dealings with Bank of America, and I can't say I'm sorry for that.

On a sarcastic note... I'm sure this will help the struggling homeowners who are already being hurt by the jacked up mortgage rates land safely on their feet...

That sounds rather bigoted / racist...

As long as they are here legally and are generally law abiding people, then they are just people just like you, and you're not any better than any of them.

Is Chase part of Bank of America? Either way, Chase pulled this same trickon me recently and my friend a couple of years ago. I canceled their card and agreed to pay my agreed upon interest rate until the debt is paid. My friend was in themidst of buying a house and did not want to affect his credit by closing an account during this process. Well the house fell through and they jacked him to 30%, thsi caused him to eventually go into credit counseling where he had agreed to pay around 30,000.00 for an original debt of around 15 to 20,000.00.

I wrote Chase a very scathing letter and they will not receive any business from me, ever. I had the card for well over three years, never late always paid more than they required ect. Apparently that was not good enough so I agreed to leave them and I also agreed to tell everyone I could what a sorry company this is. I will not ever go with the bank of america either. I heard from other people they could didn't know their head from their @ss. Hopefully our boycott will gain in size and we can watch this company die a horrific death. (profitly speaking)

I think Chase is separate, but I have had a run-in with Chase as well. They wouldn't accept payment here in US Dollars for a foreign debt of approx. $400... they wanted me to fly back across the big pond to pay that in the local currency in person. Talk about ridiculous.

YEP! Had one and got the letter in January too. I declined the rate and opted out. Paid it off and closed the account. BUT! Beware Bank of America is not the only one to do this. It seems the good ol boys in the White House approved a new cap on the amounts credit card company's could charge. I think it is up to 30% and so most of the Credit Card Co's jumped on it. I've since paid off and closed two the other being a BP gas Credit Card. I called both and requested a lower rate and they declined so I just closed my accounts. I have had a BP Credit Card since 1986 but I don't have it anymore. I'm working on Discover now because they too raised their rates.

It seems most lenders would rather get new customers since they always offer them special deals rather than keep their existing customers through incentives that amount to something besides points for every dollar you spend. Apparently they haven't gotten the message through close and pay off yet.
