Its also neat in the winner, bundle up and skate on the longest skating rink in the world...right into Ottawa.
At night its a cool way to get around town. You see lots of people in restaurants downtown with their skates on them. Just keep the drinks to a minimum and you have a nice cruise home. Very safe and well lit....but you may run into the odd hockey game en route.
Great Canadian winter tradition there.

I have some friends who have a house on Indian lake up there. I've only ever rented a 14' aluminum with a 9.9 on it, but this summer I plan to trailer my boat up there. It's a fun to place to explore, I can't wait to go back!
We stay on ther canal downtown ottawa 2 weeks each summer at Dows Lake Marina. Has all the comforts and showers, food laundry. Last year it was under construction so ammenities were not available (laundry and shower). call ahead if you expect those on a extended stay.
We plan to keep our boat there for 2 weeks again this summer.
