Hello, Newbie here.

I am looking for my first and last boat. I want one that I can take into the salt chuk (protected waters of course) for salmon fishing (requires an outrigger) and crabbing. I also want to be able to take my three kids wakeboarding on the local lakes.

The Discovery series seems to have the deepest sides "sideboard?" that would make it acceptable for the ocean should it get a little rough.

Do any of you know if this would be an acceptable solution for me? Can downriggers be added without making a mess of the boat? Also, are there any ski towers available for this boat or does one really even need one.

Anyone out there using this boat for dual purpose? Any advice for this particular boat or alternatives. I would love to hear from you, Thanks.

I don't have any answers for you, just bumping this one up a bit as no one has responded.

Re: Discovery 195 Questions

I am assuming your are talking the Discovery series of the Bayliner brand. Can't tell you how they handle in the big water anyway. ;)

For the downriggers, there are removable rail systems.

For wakeboarding, not sure if they have easily removable towers (assume you want them off for when fishing), but they do have tall wakeboard poles, which are removable. There have support wires that clip to front of boat. A bunch of them showed up on our lake last summer. They seem to do the trick, especially if you are not a serious wakeboarder. I would assume price is lower than a tower, too.

Impossible to remove gas tank on the 192 Cuddy series. engine access is terrrible. Nice looking boats though, high gunwhales (prounced gunnel means sides). I would take the cuddy in the ocean anyday.

The motor is more open than most boats because a good size fully opeing cover

There is NO small inboard that you remove the fuel tank ;)

Even high end boats like Donzi hide it under the floor and it requires pulling the compleat upper hull
