I am looking at buying a used 2000 stratos bass boat with a 200 HP Johnson PLSS Not sure what the PLSS stands for?

Also listing states motor hasn't been started for two years, but has fuel stabilizer in fuel tank. What should I be concerned with and what should I require current owner to provide prior to purchase?

PLSS is your partial model number, stands for Power Trim and Tilt, Long Shaft (20"), year 2000. Your whole model number would be J200PLSS.

Thanks for the help. I was concerned about it not being used.

I would probably bring a compression gauge with me as well when I went to look at it. All cylinders should be within 10 percent of one another, and above 100 psi.

Just be aware that you will have to do some maintainence right away before enjoying your new purchase. The price you offer should reflect that. Stabilizer or not, I would get rid of that fuel, dilute it with fresh if you want and put it in your vehicle. The carbs will need to be bathed and rebuilt, and the waterpump definately rebuilt before use as Tash said.

The fact that it sat for 2 years is not a major issue, dont let it deter you from a good deal, just realize it is not a hop on right away and start boating deal.
