Hello, Can I test my stator with a 12v light tester instead of a Neon tester light like the Selco manuel says? thanks

Your not testing just for continuity, you want to know the resistance, you need a ohm meter for that. They are a cheap, and very useful tool

Re: Evinrude 50hp 1972

I have a Ohm meter and a 12volt test light but I need to know if a Neon test light is required to test the stator like the Seloc manuel says. At this time I am interested in if I can use the 12 volt test light or do I have to have a Neon test light. This is my first attempt to work on electronic ingnitions. thanks

There are stator tests for your motor here.

You will need your ohmmeter preferrably with a DVA adaptor.

Are you talking about the old neon tester to test ign. stator's, and ign.pak output?
