HELP!!! need to replace the stringer

Okay,i just traded my 14 foot flat bottom with a 6hp sea king,for an '77 16foot trihull,with a walk threw window,and has an 402 40hp on it(runs great).any who.the deck is rotted.I started to pull the floor up and saw the middle stringer is rotted too.My problem is getting under the front bow to get the rotted 2x4 out.I have the all the wood in need to repare the floor and im fixen to fiberglass the 2x4.also im repaceing the foam in it too.can i use the foam in the can,like from walmart or can i use the foam noodles from a pool stores.

concentrate on getting the rotten out first, then in spare time (hah), search in here for repairs.
Different opinions, but they all work.

if you have to replace the foam........

a lot more than the center stringer needs to be replaced.......

jersca is doin a tri hull ......search his thread......

you got lots of work to do.....

well the foam is not bad.......it just been in there sence 77.and sence im there i just want to do it

I think the only reason to replace the foam is if it is wet or you need to get it out of the way for another repair. Otherwise I would not touch it.

Hi there , and welcome . I am doing a glastron sportster check out whats going on in my tread , I will help yea all i can !!!
I agree of the center stringer is gone you provably got more rot , I didnt think so on mine but found out as i went that i had to do it all stringers and transom , but thats ok it not that hard , and just a little bit of work . and also it will be done right this time !!
there a bunch of great guys on here and we all will steer you in the right direction !!!!
Ok welcome to the fun !!! OHHH yea and just a warning the grinding never stops !!! hahhaha just kidding it might stop when you get her back in the water !!!! lol kidding John

Okay thanks for all your help........i finely got the center stringer out and the new one fiberglassed in. now i also have the deck down,and the seats back in.I am now rewrieing the boat and found that the tac.was not hooked up where does the blue wire go to.can i put it on the ground side of the coil and will it work.

Well Beleve It Or Not There Was Only 1 Stringer And That Was The Center,and I Went To Lows And Found Something That Was Now Chep.it Was The Decking Boards That Is Not Wood.its Some Kind Of Plastic.won't Never Rot.so I Used Thatand Got More Fiberglass On Me Then The Boat.......lol.and I Put The Plywood Down Temp.for Now So I Can See If Theres Any More Leaks,and To See If It Will Sink Or Float.(i Made Sure The Bilg Pump Was Working.)its Now Test Time.lol And Yes I Have Flares,life Jackets,and A Whilse.
