I have just repowered with a 2008 90 hp E-Tec I have a 17 pitch three blade ss prop and only developing 4800 rpms what size should I go to to get optimum performance?
Tell us what kind of boat you have and how the motor is set up. (ie. what hole is it mounted on and what type of prop do you have...Viper? SST? etc..)
I too have a 90 hp Etec (2007) on my Lund 1600 Pro-sport. the boat itself weighs 1000 pounds dry. I have the motor on its lowest setting and am running a factory alum. 13.25 x 17 prop. It is able to turn it at 5100 rpm and at a speed of 41(speedometer).
With your stainless you might be getting better efficiency out of it thus you probably will be able to raise the motor (one notch at a time though to see how the hull reacts). Let us know what your current speed with your set-up is as well.
Lots of knowledgable people on here who will help you out!
You might experiment a little more with trim and put some time on the motor before changing props. Yes -- I know you can run wide open out of the box but never-the-less, put some time on the motor. That speed measurement was with what kind of load? After you get some time on the rig, make sure all your testing is done with the same load.
