I am thinking about purchasing this outboard but as you can see in the pic the lower fin is chipped just behind the prop I haven't had experience with this. Would this affect the outboard in a noticeable way at all? Thanks.

What is a zinc anode? I am new to all this young and all, 24, just got my first boat a couple of weeks ago.

The square shaped piece above the cavitation plate. It's the part that looks corroded. It's supposed to be corroded. It is a "self sacrificing" anode.

I would be concerned about general maintenance, on that engine. It looks like it's seen some hard use.

I would check:

1. Lower unit lube.

2. Propshaft straightness.

I'm sure it needs a water pump.
