72 9.5 evinrude tune-up question.

Is there a way to test the coils and condensers. I have new points and condensers but still need to pull the fly wheel this weekend. I was wondering if there was a way to test them with an ohm meter? Thanks

Connect your meter between the spark wire and gound wire on coil. Should be several k-ohms. Do same between the points lead and ground. Should be about an ohm or less with points open and zero with points closed. You need a good ohmmeter that is capable of measuring less than an ohm to do this one

Edit: If they are cracked, forget it.

Thanks, I will pull the fly wheel this weekend and do some testing. That is if it ever stops snowing.....
