I am trying to get my neigbors boat going for him. Last fall I went to put it in his garage for the winter, and discovered he had left the plug in it and it had water about halfway up the oil filter. It is a 140hp 4 cylinder, 1983 I think. I pulled the plug and let it drain. When I tried to start it a week or so ago, I had to have starter and alternator rebuilt. When I took it out, it ran fine for about 10 minutes at 4000rpm, then started slowing down and got down to around 2000rpm. I turned it off for a couple minutes, started and took off, got up to about 4000rpm for maybe a couple minutes, then slowed down again. I figured it wasn't getting enough fuel because it will run around 2000rpm fine, just bogs down at full throttle. I put new fuel pump on it and it ran for about 10 minutes today just fine, then started slowing down again. I am wondering if it might be the coil getting hot and breaking down or something like that. I am not an inboard person, so I don't know a whole lot about them. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve
