changed impeller, now what could it be?

i just changed the impeller and pump housing and when i start her up the tell tale sign doesn't show? she was doing this before i changed it. what else could i check? i stuck a small wire to ensure the spout wasn't clogged. help!

it's a 75 Mercury 150hp inline 6

Find the telltale hose on the cylinder head water jacket cover, and pull it off it's nipple. Now if no water comes out of the nipple, you have a pump problem. If water shoots out, the telltake is still clogged.

I had a similar problem on my 150 opti, water **** ok ,but water psi was 0.1 / I followed the hose and found a trap/catch length of about 2 inches made of plastic/green looks like a strainer in tube shape connecting the hoses together. It had small bits of sand like particles,I cleaned it out connected the hoses back water psi 4.0 / I am not saying this is your problem but it worth a shot...

Did everyhting go back together right when the lower unit went back on? If the water lines didnt line up that could be your problem. I've had it happen with exactly the same symptoms you mention.
