Re: fuel tank

I use them all the time along with many others and am still alive you should make a no smoking rule tho and always rember to release the pressure when you are finished with the motor.

Re: fuel tank

Welcome to the forum!!:):)
They are no more dangerous than any other gas tank. They are not under extreme pressure, just enough to get the gas to flow to the tank.

Re: fuel tank

Incredibly dangerous. In fact, due to the danger of these tank and motor combinations the US government mandates that you must send the motor and any related paraphernalia to me for disposal.

Or me. I, too, am a licensed tank disposal technician. I can even tell you how to convert to a modern, one-line tank with a fuel pump and a little time/effort. There's a thread on this forum somewhere that tells it all...about the conversion that is.

Re: fuel tank

I happen to know that McCalavy and WBeaton are certainly not qualified to handle such hazardous items. THey only have the Type "C" license and therefore don't have the equipment to properly defuse the "bomb". I, however, have a 6inch thick titanium/ railroad iron protective disarming device which is required by regulations in order to safely deal with the so-called "fuel tanks". You may drop by anytime and I'll take care of it. I've heard there are many such tanks still in use in 3rd world countries and backwoods hillbilly locales where authorities have not been able to confiscate those infamous tanks and the antiquated pieces of polluting junk that require them to run. Please let me know so I can be home when you come by--I wouldn't want to miss stealing your tank.. I meant saving you from that tank, that is. By the way, what horsepower is your '54? I find the '54 10's, 15's and 25's are particularly dangerous and polluting. I am so worried about this that I'll be willing to dismantle your motor for a 100 bucks and keep it in my storage facility.
Let me know if you need my assistance,
JBJ
P.S. please note that the tank/motors in my avatar are for identification purposes, only, and does not promote the use of any of these dangerous items. By the way, WELCOME TO IBOATS from me, too.
You'll love your '54, by the way.:)
