no power when I throttle

I have a 1985 Mercury 115. It has been in the water twice this year. The first time it ran fine. The second time it ran fine to the spot we decided to fish and when we moved to another spot it ran fine, I cranked it up to 6,000 rpm and all of a sudden it just bogged down and acted like it was starving for gas. It will start fine, idle in neutral fine and in forward fine, but when you give it throttle it won't go above 2,000 rpm. There is no miss. It sat a while while we fished, 45 minutes, started fine, took off like nothing had happened and did the same thing after about 1 minute. Did not have enough power to drive it on the trailer. Any suggestions as to what the problem is. I am leaning toward gummed carberators. The spark plugs look ok.

By the description that you are giving it really sounds as a fuel problem. If you want to try to pump the primer bulb as you are WOT and if you dont have the problem then its a easy fix. But it could be the carbs but its wierd that you are able to get up on RPM and then it slowing down check or replace the bulb and a carb cleaning and seal kit wouldnt hurt at all.

I think I have more serious problems. I went to clean my carburators with deep creep and after hooking the muffs up and starting the engine, I have water running out of my spark plugs. What could this be and how expensive? Help

Stacked 6 115 ?

Hopefully it's going to be an Exhaust plate warped or cracked, cooling water leaking into exhaust and then into exhaust ports.

Get the exhaust covers off, carefully, try not to break any bolts off, remove the plugs, blow out and rag out any water, oil the rings and cyl's, bar the engine over to coat ALL the cyl surface.

Fine another devider plate, gaskets, and bolt it up. check all gasket surfaces for straightness, gently torque the cover down so as NOT to warp it during your installation.

yes, it is a stacked 6. water is seeping through the top 4 plugs but spraying pretty good through the bottom one. I hope it only a water jacket gasket.
