after i remove my boat cover or tarp off my 18' bowrider boat in storage it always smells of strong gas fumes. Is this a sign of anything, they clear up rather quickly. I have a hatch over the tank connections and sending unit all is tight and not leaking. I pull my tarp down lower than the gas tank vent on the back of the boat could the smell be seeping all the way under the cover.

Yes, combination of fuel tank vent and possible residual fumes from carbs (if carbed). If they disappear after removing cover, do a once over but sounds normal to me.

I forgot to add. If I/O, run your blower and/or lift engine cover to clear all fumes from the bilge. VERY important.

My I/O is the same way; i always flip the blower on when i get to the ramp. and when i get ready to pull it out the garage. I love boating and watching fireworks on the fourth of july; but i would rather not be the fireworks!
