Ok i have a 74 fiber form IO 165 hp omc stringer out drive. So here is the hell, I took a log at 25 mph and it tore my whole out drive off. Broke the upper gear casing at the pivot bearing (where the out drive hooks to the boat). So I went to the marine wreckers and found a new case but they wanted 450 for the case and 700 for the whole unit with gears. So me being the cheap skate I am I went to ebay and found a case. It measures the same in all regards but there are differences that I did not notice before I bought it. First it has a small gear that stears the OD and mine dose not have that and the new one did not come with a water pump I fiqured that I could just transfer the old one. Well of course the old one dose not fit and the water pump input shaft for the old one is a 12 spline while the new one is only a 4. So after finally finding the part number on both units I find that my old one is a 165 hp and the new one from ebay is only a 90 hp. But the cases are identical, so my question is can I use the one I got from ebay, is there a way to make them fit?
