Re: flywheel removal

To remove the nut you will need some penetrating oil, a flywheel holder and a breaker bar, or simply an air impact gun. You will then need a harmonic balancer puller to remove the flywheel.

Be sure the taper is clean and dry and torque it to spec on re installation. This is very important.

Re: flywheel removal

Harmonic puller. I just popped mine off yesterday and it wasn't an easy task but it's doable. I used a harmonic/steering wheel puller. A buddy of mine told me to tighten it down a few turns then pop the large center bolt on the puller with a hammer. Said it should pop right off. That didn't work. Had to resort to using a breaker bar on the ratchet. It eventually popped right off.

Assuming that you are using a high quality harmonic puller (don't use any other kind), try using the air impact gun on the drive bolt of the puller.

Re: flywheel removal

like this be sure to use #8 harden bolt, (auto parts store) to put in the flywheel standard bolt will strip off, causing more problems.
