Can someone out there help me figure-out where I need to put my new oil lines? The old ones were already brittle and broken when I got it, and I don't know what line goes where. My Mercury manual doesn't show any oil injection diagrams...so I'm at a loss. My motor is a 1988 Mercury 150 XR4. Thanks so much for any help you can give. AC.

Which lines are you referring to. The oil injection or the small bleed lines. I'll have to do research on another site but I have seen a good diagraham some where. I have an OEM manual for a 1989 so it would be the same I think. Let me know.
This was easier than I thought. Here is a link w/schematic.

Serial number is: OB361965

All of the lines that were the plastic tubing material (like fish tank tubing) are shot. I'm pretty sure they are the oil injection lines. Looks like they run from the bottom of the oil reserve tank (port side), down to some sort of module, and routed through 2 or 3 different lines from there. Thanks for the help!

Hope you do with that schematic. There are 2 different size lines on the system, they are clear plastic. They are very critical to have as there is no alarm to tell you that they are leaking oil until your tank is empty and then it is too late.
I still have a partial pk of each out in the shop if you can not find new. I think Merc charges like $12-13 for each piece. Also if your dealer has them get from them and also get the little plastic wire type ties from them alsoIf thise are that brittle, maybe should check the bleed lines also. They are litttle black lines that run from the mounting block at the rear of the carbs. They can cause running problems if not hooked up. They also re direct oil back into the engine for luberication.

yep. those are the lines i'm talking about. just picked them up from the merc dealership yesterday. that schematic is perfect! you're awesome!

also, i've been using regular black zip ties for everything. do you think the zip ties will be sufficient?

Yes, they will work, just make sure they are tight and then after you run for a while check to make sure they are holding.
