yea great price and 2 year warranty . when your crankbat only needs 1 amp it splits the other 4 amps for that bank between other 2 trolling bats. also it will work on gel cell bats like your optima.

Re: On Board Battery charger

Regarding the load sharing chargers -- I recently read that this feature may not be all it's cracked up to be. Unfortunately I can't find the article again but I believe it was in BWB Magazine (Bass & Walleye Boat). The article claimed that the switching characteristic may not work as effectively as a charger that does not have the feature. Until i read that I thought it was a great design but now have second thoughts. Don't change your plans because of this as you know how biased the media can be.

Re: On Board Battery charger

You should read the reviews of this charger on the Bass Pro website. Im also shopping for a new charger because mine quit working. The life expectancy of onboard chargers seem to be pretty short, and I believe the Bass Pro one you're talking about seems to be very very short.

btw - My charger that died was a Pro mariner Pro sport 8. My advice for any charger is to make sure it works right before the warranty expires, not after.

Re: On Board Battery charger

I've owned three Guest chargers over the years and one of them is now 13 year old and still functioning normally on the boat my daughter and son-in-law now own.

I recently put a Minn Kota 210 on my boat, was 104.95 at walmart and
has a $25 rebate. Its a 2 bank charger, I don't see the reason to have to
charge the crank battery if the alternator works. You can download the
rebate coupon on Minn Kota's web site.
