Bought this engin on a bass boat last week. Started the motor and it wouldn't fire on #4 cyl. Replaced lower switch box #4 started firing and #3 from top swich box quit firing. Took the old swich box and replaced the upper switch box and now #3 fires and #1 quit, does this mean that top switch box was bad also? Checked all wiring on the coils and switches three times everything seems right. I'm about ready to turn this engin into a small lake reef........I could use all the input on this thing I can get. Thanks.....John...

The switch boxes are part of the cdi ignition on the side of the motor the sends power to the coils telling them to fire. Every coil has its own wire on the trigger under the fly wheel. The boxes are solid state and they canot be repaired, all you can do is replace them I guess.

the motor calls for part#332-7778a12 switch boxes, I only replaced one. I'm wondering if I should have replaced both of them being I am having the smal miss fire problem but it is moving around, which doesn't make much sence to me.

How many threads are you going to start on the same problem?
