Re: Git-Rot

It only works if you can completely dry the wood first. That is about impossible on most transoms.
Rot is a fungus that never stops.....

Re: Git-Rot

I went to rotdoctor.com and and great luck with the cpes. The biggest concern is the ability to dry the wood. If you can, then stuff like this works. I just redecked a 94 SeaRay 170. The stringers i had to cut out, but was able to salvage some floor. Hope this helps.

What if you had a building you could put the wood in during the summer months out of the weather? Would it dry out enough in that hot dry environment to make a difference, particularly plywood?

If it is new wood that will be going into the boat the best bet is to coat it in poly or epoxy resin.Git Rot is just resin that is thinned down but more expensive.
A wet transom that is encapsulated in fiberglass will never dry.
