Alternator

Hello all,

I own a 1985 ebb tide boat with a 170hp 4cyl 3.7 liter mercruiser inboard outboard motor. The boat came equipped with a GM 5.7liter V8 alternator. I want to install a marine alternator. Anyone know which one to use?

Why not look on the Discount marine store websites and find a replacement that was OEM to your motor? You do know that you need to use a Marine rated alternator so you don't blow yourself up?

I was told by the previous owner. Also has Delco stamped into the metal.

To Chris, Yes I know about boats blowing up by not using a marine alternator, thats why I wish to replace it.

It can say Delco and still be a marine alternator.

OK. I guarantee the current alternator is an automobile alternator. The casing has ribs, I can see through it and look at the bronze wires.

Your going to have too play match it up for size and bolt patterns. This is not the OEM style as it is.
