Does this look like an ok set-up? I know I've read that the winch strap should be below the hook eye, but obviously I can't do that with this post/winch combination. Also, I know that the whole post needs to be moved closer to the boat.

Unspool the winch and run the strap from under instead of over the drum and add a safety chain and you're there...

Um. . .the safety chain. Put a turnbuckle in it so you can lock the bow firmly to the trailer.

Re: Question about my winch post.

After looking at your pics on your site...

Adjust your bow roller down some. When the bow roller is adjusted lower, the stern may raise some. Loser the rest of the rollers a notch afterward. I can't tell from your pics if side rollers slide adjust. I don't see anything from pulling the boat closer to the post. Can you winch it closer?

With the correct adjustments to the trailer, I think the bow hook will be at the right place. Post back with adjustments.

Oh, I certainly COULD winch the boat closer, but then it would be off of the rear rollers that are directly under the transom and I thought that the boat should sit on those.

Your rear cross-member is held with u-bolts, move it forward.

or...

after you adjust the roller height, move the post forward. much easier this way.

good luck..

Thanks for the replies. As you can probably guess I'm a little new at this.

Re: Question about my winch post.

I'd convert it to a double bow stop with the winch strap running though the middle. This will stop the boat from being able to ride up over the winch in an emergency. I would still add a chain and turnbuckle as well.

you need to modify your bow stop, either a new one, or have a welder modify the one you have. like this
