Hello from St. Augustine, Fla.

Hey there. New to the forum, lifelong boater. Most of my experience has been with power boats, but these days I've got the sailing bug. Recently purchased an Oday 20 sloop and take her out whenever I can here in the Inlet.

Just curious to see how many other St. Augustine members there are on here.

I just moved here a couple of months ago.....Loyal fans of the Gators here......Havent seen that kind of rabid support since I lived in Wisconsin and experienced Packer fever.

Hey Oceansole....you'll like the group of people at Iboats....a real civil crowd...most of them anyway. My wife and I are both gators....living in NJ though which is a far cry from St Augustine.. I was there from 1984 to 1991 (no, it didnt take me that long to graduate) its just a little hard to leave . I see by your age in the profile we may have overlapped a year or two.

Actually, that's weird -- I was there from 1984 to 1991 also.

I moved to Boston for about five years, then moved back to Gainesville in 1996 (just in time for the first National Championship). Lived there a few more years before moving to the Tampa Bay area for a couple of years, then to St. Augustine.

I love Gainesville, but the one thing that I didn't like was being so far from the coast. I grew up on the water and have been around boats all my life. I didn't like being landlocked. If Gainesville was on the coast, I'd live there forever. Who knows, if the polar ice caps melt enough to raise sea levels significantly, maybe Gainesville WILL be on the coast.

Yup....Gainesville is about smack dab in the middle....Cedar Key was not a bad ride though from there. Here's a link to a thread where I was bored one night and wrote all about it.

Wow! A rag man! You will find that most of the conversation on boats around here is about outboards followed by I/O drives. Sail, inboards and alternative drives are way in the minority, but more than welcome. Good advice and good fellowship is given freely here.

You will have to chime in on the hot topic of the price of gas!

Well, I'm a motor boater, too. In fact, I'm still kind of an apprentice at the sailing thing.

I basically love all boats. Seriously, if it floats, I dig it.
