Re: This bimini looks bad....

I had a Renken bowrider with a high bimini, though maybe not quite that high. I actually liked it like that, because I could stand up fully underneath it.

Here's what mine looked like:

That looks way better than the one in the ad.
I like them where i can stand up with about 6 inches to spare..

The one in the ad might look higher than it is because of the angle of the photo, and the fact that the boat is on the trailer.

Yeah, that is weird. I wonder why they mounted it there. Wouldn't seem to be too stable like that.

I used to leave mine on almost all of the time -- even on the trailer. Never gave me a problem.

Actually, I really miss that boat and would like to get another one.

Probably a shadow, or school of fish. That was taken at Egmont Key, which is an island off Fort DeSoto on the Gulf Coast. I grew up there, and that's where I got most of my boating experience. I used to love to take my boat out to Egmont Key. There's an old ruined fort out there, nice beaches, clear water and the island is mostly left wild and deserted, save for the lighthouse and a small Coast Guard facility on the south end of the island. It's pretty nice.

that is where the mounting bracket is on that boat, same as my chris craft. but they should have deck mounted it. here are 2 of mine, when i sold the boat, i cut 24 inches of the support and adjusted the bows to use on the other boat.

Gary, the spectrum went to South America, last summer, through ebay, and paypal... it was an easy transaction, he even paid us to take it to Miami, for shipping. the Black Duracraft is for sale right now.

Thanks TD,I would like to find one like that Spectrum for days like today.I want to go fishing but no one else can go today. The ChrisCraft is a little too much boat just for me.
I can launch and load by myself no problem but a small aluminum would be the deal..much cheaper to tow and operate.
The Chris is great when i have 2 or 3 people going or using it to cruise and tube.

Yeah, I like them low . . . I am only 5'7", so this is easy for me. I like to be able to just barely stand at the helm, I don't mind if my head is hitting even. I prefer my boats to "look" kinda cool and a really high Bimini is like wearing floods or something. A point about function though too. With them low, they can keep the sun out of your eyes (or the rest of you) later in the day. The sun will sneak under a tall Bimini earlier . . .

This was the last one I rigged myself, and I cut the main stays down before I installed it:

Thats exactly how i like them too QC,just barely enough room to stand up.
The last one i bought i had to cut about a foot off of it.
I'll be ordering one for the Chriscraft this year before hot weather hits.
Looks like the shortest 8 footer is 42 inches high,i will cut it down if needed.
I found a gray 8 foot Sunbrella on Craigslist for a great price but gray and a beige boat would look like crap.
