All,

I have an opportunity to purchase an 07 Starcraft 1900 RE with a merc 4.3 MPI engine. It has 40 hours on it. The last owner upgraded to a larger boat. They had a fishing seat added to the swim platform and a fishfinder at the helm. There ask price is $19,950, with tandam trailer, bow and cockpit cover, bimini top and no other upgrades. What are your thoghts about the price as well as the boat itself?

thanks

good boat, and power plant. 2009 will be coming out in a short while, so consider it a 2 year old boat, for depreciation from original sales price.

Re: Startcraft Boat Thoughts

Same boat I bought last year. I prob. have around 40 - 50 hours on it and like it so far. My biggest complaint about it is the three diff. sections to the eng. comp. and its just because its kind of a pain to winterize it.There isnt much room undernieth where the walk through is. I put carpet on my swim deck when I stop because it angles down enough the kids busted thier butts on it last year.
With 4 adults and 2 kids it will run around 43 to 44 mph. on gps with an 18 pitch 4 blade prop. Mine is also just the carbed 4.3. It runs toward 5000 on the tach (only let rev that high a couple of times) so I am going to go up one or two pitches on the prop and o to ss.
As far as the way it rides in the water, it is pretty smooth even on choppy days at the lake. I cant remember what mine was for sure but I think it was around 27k in july last year. I know my trade was worth around 3500 to 4000 and with trade in it was right at 20k including tax and everything.
If I could do it again I would buy it again but would add a tandem trailer and bow, cockpit covers. Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the info. I plan to carpet the deck as well as it was kind of slick with a little dew on it. It has a tandom trialer and I am looking forward to that versus my single I have now. I can see how the engine comp is tight but the dealer said there was one knob on the fron to winterize the boat. I will see about that when I get the manual. I have an opportunity to prop the boat with the dealer and we will get the right size on there. thanks again.

One of the problems winterizing it was putting a new fuel filter on. The nice person that tightened it new was pretty strong. I bent the bracket because it was so tight. Changeing the oil filter you have to take out the divider but other than that it was five plastic plugs and the power steering cooler.
For the money I am very happy with everything else. Take it for a test and I think you would be happy with how it handles and for a boat, the fuel consumption is not to bad.Good luck.

Okay, I made the deal. We took it out for about a half hour ride and it handles nice and with the 4 blade, has a decent hole shot. Removing the sides for fuel and oil filters shouldn't be that big of a deal. The only problem now is the Mazad CX-9 with the tow package is at it's limit for towing. I hope the boat floats and the car doesn't go it. :D

Glad to hear you got it. I had to get to the fuel filter with a wrench the first time by the batt. door. Only tightened it by hand the second time.
As far as the tow vehicle I have only pulled mine with a dodge 1500 and now a silverado 1500 so I cant help you with that. I think mine was around 3600lbs without fuel. I know you have the tandem trailer and mine is a single but I noticed with mine my back tires have to be right at the edge of the water to get the boat on and off. Congrats on the purchase.

thanks Thunder. When you say tires right at the edge, do you mean the tops of the tires?

I would think he meant the tires of the truck not the trailer...otherwise thats one magical boat!
and if the top of his truck tires are in..........

Sorry, that would be the bottom of the truck tires. The ramp where we go is pretty steep. The water is right at the fender top to get the boat on and off.

Had it out yesterday and she rides very nice. Getting it off the trailer was no problem, just sank both tires, about an inch above the fender and she slides right off and on. The sim platform is real slick when wet so I'll look into some sort of fix for that.

Thanks for the PM. I am going to look into it on Monday.

Re: Startcraft Boat Thoughts

I was wondering if any one has pictures of the original Starcraft 16' Mariner Alumn Boat-between the years 1985-1990 I don't have the exact year model but I believe is about 20 year old. I got it from a friend and I am planning to re-build the way it was so I need some original pictures if you or any one can share some pictures please help...

Thank you,

mexicandiver99, It would be best to start your own thread and maybe title it "Need Starcraft 16' Mariner Alumn Boat pictures" This way, it more closley matches your need. Many might skip this thread.
