Engine Mounting Issue

I have spent several months repairing my transom using the Seacast method. The integrity of the inner and outter skin was intact, however, the outer skin why pretty dinged up from the load of the engine so I tried my best to place spacers inside to keep a flush surface. It had kind of a wave to it. Once I poured the new transom, rebuilt the cap and mounted the engine, I noticed that the engine mounting plate sat flush on 3 of the holes and looked good around the edges except for the lower left corner of the mounting plate. There is about a 1/8" gap between the corner of the mounting plate and the hull of the transom. The mounting hole itself is actually slotted and the bolt sits at the top of the slot, a good distance from the bottom corner and is actually flush with the transom. I'm just wondering if I have lost any proper loading support or is it just more of an eyesore than anything? Also, would I be able to build this area up slightly so the Engine would sit flush by maybe adding a little gel coat?

The engine I am mounting is an Evinrude 1984 V4 engine.

i would put a shim or large washer between the transom and bracket.

Re: Engine Mounting Issue

Thanks for the responses. After a more careful examination, I realized that the gap is actually where I did a repair on the outter skin. The engine punched a hole through it kind of like when a paper hole puncher punches a hole through paper but doesnt completely cut it out. I didnt like the way it looked (even though I was filling it all in with seacast) so I cut out the broken glass and repaired it from the inside. I didnt really do any work on the outside other than sanding and I dont think I built it up all the way flush with the rest of the surface thus creating the gap. It was hard to see what the issue was with the motor mounted on there. Makes me feel a little better now knowing what caused it. Anyways, I'll probably slap a layer of gelcoat on it before I mount the engine to make it look pretty :D If that doesnt do the trick i'll go with the washer Idea. Thanks again.
