If you are serious above moving then there is one simple rule.
No1. Get the correct information, I repeat, get the correct information.
Look up the NZ immigaration site and study the conditions and type of entries. Listen to others experiences and advice by all means, but get the correct facts. Not all opinions are factual.
Contact the Kiwi Embassy and ask for the literature and forms....that is one of their roles......they are taking immigrants....and believe me, we are happier to see Yankees here than some of the other characters that manage to get in.
It can be done by Americans, it is being done.
I have a friend called Tex, comes from Lake Travis.
Now here is a little "back-door trick".
Australians and New Zealands are allowed to move freely between each country, with only a passport....no other docs.
So if you can't migrate to NZ but can to Australia, then do that, then become a Aussie citizen after 2yrs, then you can freely reside in New Zealand, and after a couple of years you can become a Kiwi if you wish....dosn't matter.
And don't feel guilty about it. It is legal and everybody can do it if they wish, and believe me, they do.
Half the Pacific Islanders that live in Aussie came thru New Zealand.
Aussie has large numbers of Kiwis living in it.
NZ has large numbers of Aussies living in it.
But get the correct information first, maybe consult an immigration agent for advice, then make your decision.
Cheers
Phillip
