I just look under my L/U and noticed that my trim tab is missing..Would me not having this let water in my lower unit??? The trim tab is located right above my prop??

No. It may let more water leave the midsection than it should, though.

I would get one. They help to offset torque and keep the boat from pulling to one side.

If the boat steers OK, not needed. No, zero water will get in the L/U. BUT, some doubled as anodes, but if ya don't leave it in the water, again no problem

Depending on what model motor you have, some E / J models have a tab with a water passage in the tab. It adds water to the exhaust to cool it just before it goes thru the exhaust. That helps keep the prop hub cool.
