I picked up a 1995 Bayliner 2050 with a 5.0 V8 Merc. I had a few questions about the weight of the boat, HP, performance expectations and anything else I should look for.

The boats floor is solid, the motor looks clean, sounds good and has awesome power, I don't hear any knocking or pinging. The trim works, the power steering works. The only complaint I have with the boat is the front vinyl is starting to crack.

The HP is going to be around 220 to 225. Weight should come in around 1800 lbs. but I'd do a search on NADA to make sure.
They are great little bay and inland boat with plenty of scoot and handle really well. Don't like a hard turn to starboard at full throttle ( cavitation ) but will track really nice straight ahead. Of course the more weight added the more the number's will fall, but I'm throwing this in the wind but you should see 40 - 45 m.p.h. - depending on how it's propped.
If you are a new boater then I strongly recommend a U.S.Coast Guard Auxiliary safe boater's course. Could save some bucks on your insurance.
If it has been sitting for a bit I would definitely change the impeller and then move forward to your regular maintenance schedule.
How many hour's on the engine????

All the major maintenance was done before I picked the boat up. I just actually got back from it's maiden voyage. Hit 45 according to the speedometer. I can't complain about that. The carb looks freshly rebuilt, it idles a little rough but that could be from older gas so I mixed in some Sea Foam, and some fresh gas. So far so good. Not my first boat, my first boat was a late 70s Sleekcraft Day Cruiser Jet Boat with a 455 Olds.

... congrats, great looking boat! you might try this stuff called 303 protectant to get into those vinyl cracks and slow the process. stuff has been pretty good on my boats vinyl.

I got my buddy to buy some stuff for me from the shop he works at (Employee Discount). Called Duragloss 541 Cleaner with Mildew Buster. Supposed to remove stains from vinyl and the like. I also had him pick up some Duragloss 531 Protectant. A quote from the website:

“Duragloss Marine & R/V Protectant #531 is an advanced, sunscreen-enriched, polymeric formula that prevents premature ageing and fading of vinyl and rubber surfaces. Advanced polymers rejuvenate dull, faded and discolored vinyl and rubber and leave behind a detergent resistant, UV resistant and water resistant barrier that guards against mildew and algae growth.”

And

Duragloss Marine & RV Cleaner with Mildew Buster is a specially formulated blend of surfactants that penetrate and emulsify to make short work of mildew and stubborn stains on vinyl, fiberglass, tiles and other non-porous surfaces on your boat or RV.

I hope it works. I used it on the very rear seats and the motor cover, seems to have cleaned it up quite a bit. At least relevant to how dirty my terry towel now looks. LoL.

Can I ask what you paid for it. I just purchased the same boat except 5 years older, 5.7 engine, and a dual axle trailer. I paid $6000.

They were originally asking $7900 for the boat, I ended up paying $5000.

I think if you are only getting 45 out of that boat you should reprop, I also have a 95' 2050 but with a 3.0 LX and I get 44mph according to the GPS.
