I have an old evinrude 6hp. I am wondering what year it is and whether it's a short or long shaft? the serial #is6902m-e10465

1969. It started life as a short shaft but that means nothing. They are easy to swap back and forth and may have been done even more than once.

Measure from the underside of the transom clamp to the anti-ventilation plate, Bob.

A "short" shaft will be 15" +- an inch or so. 20" is a long shaft.
